Made4mankind’s Awon Sarmiento and Snap city’s Nicole Franklin collaborate to create a night of fun and networking for the Des Moines community. “We have built a large platform to support artists in this town- they do concerts and shows but aren’t working together,” Franklin said.
This duo has been making major moves from different courts all with the same goal of supporting local creatives. Born in the Philippines then growing up in California, Sarmiento has an urban style, he moved to Iowa 8 years ago. Franklin stated that the two have a bond that makes working with each other easier, talking about food and fashion they also have a lot in common when it comes to working. Very passionate and strong willed they compliment each other.
“I know where to look for sponsorship’s to show how talented our hip hop, rap, soul, and gospel singers are to bring back the integrity of music,” Franklin said.
Between taking care of their families and keeping their careers balanced, they still manage to have time to promote and support others in their work.
If you are on the verge of owning a business think wisely about where you spend the most. “Look for grants talk to people that own similar businesses, mentor, put yourself out there if this is what you love to do and you can make money while doing it why not?,” Franklin said.
